Natural look from Israel Israeli exporter, Agrexco has dropped the use of acid treatment which gives lychees their bright pink colouring. "This keeps the fruit as natural as possible," said Rob Cullum, exotic product manager. "The skin colour is paler. Once out of the cool chain it will colour up, but not to the same depth." The change could possibly extend the shelf life. Fruit is being packed in 2kg cartons and drawn from three packhouses, and began to arrive last week by air. The season will continue with sea freighted cargoes until mid September. The UK will receive about 1,100 tonnes. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
