Bass and Scottish Courage are both working on extensions to core brands. Both are primarily for their draught business in pubs. Bass is testing Blue, a 2% abv version of Carling being sold in 39 pubs and clubs around Sheffield. It is only half way through its test, but if successful a packaged product for the off-trade will be introduced this year. This is an attempt to develop a premium light strength category. The product is selling at 10p a pint less than normal strength lagers. Scottish Courage is putting more weight behind McEwan's in the on-trade. This is likely to include the introduction of a new draught style of the brand. {{DRINKS }}
