The Irish Cheesemakers' Association has launched a quality assurance scheme for farmhouse cheeses. The move has the support of the Irish agriculture ministry. There are about 50 farmhouse cheeses made on 28 farms across Ireland. Five UK multiples stock Irish farmhouse cheeses. To qualify for the scheme, every cheese must be fully traceable, while all the relevant EU standards will have to be met. Cheesemakers will also have to attend a four day college course. {{PROVISIONS }}
