Marks & Spencer has pledged that by 2012 all its wild-caught fish will be sourced from MSC or otherwise sustainable fish stocks.

The commitment was made this week as M&S became the first UK company to sign up to the WWF's Seafood Charter, designed to encourage companies to source sustainably caught and farmed seafood.

"Sustainable fishing is at the heart of our food business and we want to make it as easy as possible for our customers to be able to enjoy fish that is both tasty and sustainable," said M&S head of technology Paul Willgoss.
