Premier acquired Ambrosia from Unilever Bestfoods UK, now Unilever UK Foods, in November 2003 and brought in Ferguson as MD to revive the brand just a year ago.
She has now taken over the Ryvita leadership from Garth Weston, who is taking a year’s
sabbatical. Weston is the youngest boy of the six children of the late Garry Weston, who ruled the family food manufacturing and retail empire for 30 years. Garth’s brother, George, became chief executive of Associated British Foods at the beginning of the month.
Ferguson will be focusing on the core product range to develop the Ryvita brand, following last year’s launch of the Ryvita Minis brand extension. She will also take on responsibility for the success of the national TV campaign, to be launched at the end of this month, highlighting Ryvita’s healthy rye ingredients for the first time.
Before her year at Premier, Ferguson was marketing director for McVitie’s at United Biscuits.
