Mikado ads are probably best known for attracting censure, which is all very well when it comes to winning publicity, but less helpful when you want to, you know, actually run some ads.
So this latest one tones down the sexy, and focuses on the weird. We’re in the office, where a quirky workforce is battling the ‘2.16pm lull’ (they must be fans of The Archers) by munching on their favourite Japanese snacks, to the tune of Hey Mickey. Naturally!
One woman sniffs hers like a cigar first, while another consumes hers with kisses and moans of pleasure. A hunky man, meanwhile, rips open his shirt in delight (OK, it’s still a bit sexy).
But it’s funny too, retaining the brand’s individual spirit without - hopefully - attracting another ban.
