Drinks giant Diageo has signed up Judy Murray to represent its Pimm’s brand in the newly created position of ‘chief foliage officer’, in an effort to ensure the fruit cup is served without an excess of mint leaves.
Announced today to coincide with the opening of the Wimbledon championships, the partnership comes after the mother of tennis stars Andy and Jamie Murray last July tweeted her dismay at being served a Pimm’s with a “foliage overdose” of mint.
In her role of CFO, the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant will promote the correct way to prepare the ‘tennis tipple’, and has recorded a training video for bartenders, which is to be distributed across the UK ‘in a bid to avoid any more foliage blunders’.
“We’re delighted to welcome Judy to the team,” said brand manager Elly Martin. “Mint management is the key to a great glass of Pimm’s, and we know Judy is a perfectionist and doesn’t settle for second best.”
