Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencer have been recognised at the European Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards, organised by Compassion in World Farming.

M&S received two awards at the event in Paris on 31 October, for best retailer and best-performing retailer, with Sainsbury’s getting the best retailer marketing award.

M&S was recognised for its relationship with CIWF and for having higher animal welfare in its Plan A scheme, while Sainsbury’s was lauded for its efforts to communicate welfare issues.

Jamie Oliver, Gü Puds and McDonald’s were among those also recognised.
