Marks & Spencer will roll out hydrogen-powered forklifts at its 1.1 million sq ft distribution centre in Bradford following a six-week trial.

M&S has signed a deal with ITM Power to provide on-site hydrogen production using the ITM HFuel electrolyser system. Workers praised the reliability and long battery life offered by the eco-friendly forklifts, which have an operating time of around 18 hours.

“The guys love them. They don’t have to waste time changing batteries,” said an M&S spokesman.
