Brand owner Premier Foods has struck a deal to produce a range of canned pasta under the HP label featuring the iconic 1970s advertising characters.
Details of the depth or style of the range have yet to be confirmed, but the first products from the deal are scheduled to start rolling out from September in 213g, single-serve cans.
Aimed at kids under seven, the main consumers of character pasta shapes, the newcomers are also expected to catch the eye of parents who remember the characters from their youth.
Planned support for the new range includes turning can labels into money-off vouchers for the Smash instant potato range which is itself set to get an update with a new flavour variant. Premier Foods spokesman Andrew Turner said: “This allows us and HP Foods to make the most of a popular brand and food product.”
