Masterfoods believes it has got everything wrapped up for pets this Christmas. The confectionery to petfood manufacturer is launching a raft of yuletide treats for prized pooches and treasured cats under its Pedigree and Whiskas banners.

Stocking-shaped packs in the brands’ liveries head this year’s gifting range. Both offerings will retail at £3.29 and include eating treats and toys. For more indulgent owners there are £4.99 gift bags containing a few extra treats, while £3.99 and £4.99 play packs are another option. And just to make sure that the family dog can celebrate Christmas with the family, Masterfoods has come up with a £1.49 festive edition turkey-flavoured Jumbone.
n Mirror fights back

The Daily Mirror’s circulation has lifted back to past the 2 million mark, according to the August ABC figures.

Sales of the paper dropped below 2 million in March for the first time in 70 years.

Its latest circulation boost is thought to be partly due to its exclusive interviews with farmer Tony Martin and the launch of a new Saturday supplement We Love Telly.

However, the ABC for August of 2 million-plus still showed a drop of almost 6% on the previous year’s sales.
