New Heinz Mean Beanz varieties aim to encourage beans fans to expand their repertoire.
Smokey BBQ and Italian join existing Mexican and Sweet Chilli in the range, which has also been repackaged. Mean Beanz cans now feature images of host foods not traditionally associated with baked beans to introduce consumers to new ways of using them, while there are also recipe ideas on the back of packs. The Mexican variety, for example, features the Mean Beanz with spices being used to liven up a taco.
"By demonstrating new ways of using Mean Beanz varieties on pack, we are building on our commitment to grow the beans category," said Nathan Ansell, senior brand manager.
"The new Italian and Smokey BBQ flavours, in addition to Mexican and Sweet Chilli, provide consumers with variety and choice in their beans consumption."
Heinz launched the range in March 2005 to breathe life into the baked beans category.
