Organic brand Meridian is poised to launch a meat-alternative product in a can. The new range, made with VegeMince, includes organic versions of classic sauces such as curry, Bolognese and chilli (rsp: £1.29). Included in the canned range is Organic Chick Pea Dhal, a medium spiced Indian dish (rsp: 99p). All four should be available to retailers from May onwards. Md Paul Otto said: "We bought a canning facility in Letchworth last year ­ and soon after we launched our soup range. But our aim is to launch products with a point of difference and be first into the market."
