A new sausage brand, which claims to be 30% lower in saturated fat than a standard banger as it contains olive oil, is set to make its debut in Asda and Ocado.
Olive Hill Farm sausages (rsp: £3 for a 350g pack of six) are the result of a collaboration between Swedish meatball supplier Scan Foods and Greek company Creta Farms.
Both retailers will be stocking the brand’s pork & chorizo sausage with olive oil, and pork sausage - Ocado within the next week, and Asda next month. Ocado will also offer a pork, feta & sundried tomato variant.
Using olive oil reduced satfat by at least 30% without affecting flavour or juiciness, said a spokeswoman for Scan.
