Vion is investing £11.5m in its Northern Irish plant in Cookstown, creating 164 new jobs, it announced this week.

The Dutch meat giant will install new equipment to improve animal welfare and increase processing capacity. The investment is backed by a £1m grant from Invest Northern Ireland.

Enterprise minister Arlene Foster said Vion’s investment “will ensure the company continues to play a strategic role in sustaining the important Northern Ireland pork sector”.
