New varieties of sweeter tasting orange-fleshed melons can be expected to overtake traditional white fleshed Honeydews, said Fernando De Almedia, president of the Brazilian Fruit Institute (IBRAF). He also sees Brazil as an increasingly important winter source of tropical and exotic products as commercial production is growing at between 20% and 30% a year.
