Piemontese co-operative wine producer Araldica has appointed southern European specialist Meridian Wines as its UK agent in the off-trade. Meridian is taking the business on from February and the portfolio comprises the Araldica and Alasia labels and the single vineyard Poderi Alasi range. The co-operative is based in the Monferrato region of Italy and its 300 members own 800 hectares of vineyards. Meridian md Tony Brown said: "Araldica is one of the most dynamic producers in the region. It was one of the first in Italy to work with New World winemakers and it is aware of the need for a balance between quality and commerciality." The wines will be handled in the on-trade by Boutinot from December 1. {{DRINKS }}
