Merrydown hopes its new-look labels will prove popular with summer cider drinkers. An image of an apple-laden tree now features on bottles and cans, while the year of the apple harvest and vintage appears on Vintage Cider bottles. MD Chris Carr said: "The date of the first bottling - 1946 - is flagged up within a premium quality seal, with the information that Merrydown is still made from the original Sussex recipe." The brand plans a summer PR and tasting campaign to promote both Vintage and its new Gold Cider as the perfect accompaniment to al fresco eating.
