The UK has come 12% under quota this year on milk deliveries to dairy processors.

Total deliveries for 2009/10 stood at 13.3 million tonnes, 12.1% less than its annual quota of 15.1 million tonnes and 1.5% less than the 13.5 million tonnes it delivered in 2008/09.

The UK also came in under quota in 2008/09, under-delivering by 9.4%.

Overall, just three countries the Netherlands, Cyprus and Denmark exceeded their milk quotas for 2009/10, and were fined a total of 19m (£16.5m).
