Scottish dairy business Robert Wiseman has made a £225m cash counter bid for the Unigate facilities Dairy Crest was set to buy. If Wiseman beats Dairy Crest's £200m share offer with its upped cash offer, it will leap into southern England, double in size and be second only to Express Dairies, with a market share of 26%. It will also give Wiseman Dairies access to Sainsbury  the only multiple it does not have a liquid milk supply deal with. But Dairy Crest is fighting back with a claim that Unigate signed a legally binding agreement to seal the deal. "There is only one bid on the table, and that is ours," said the company. {{NEWS }}
