Heinz is poised to pep up penetration in the sluggish UK vinegar retail market with the launch of five products on July 17 and another one in August. The range, produced by Hazlewood Foods, includes Malt, Distilled Malt, Red Wine, White Wine and Salad vinegars, (rsp 94-99p), all in 335ml glass bottles sporting the Heinz 57 varieties' logo. Aged Balsamic (rsp £2.99) will follow in August. Heinz claims this the widest range in the UK. Md for European sauces Robin Walker said a familiar brand would encourage wider trial of speciality products. "It will generate mainstream appeal and allow retailers to rationalise the fixture," he added. Heinz already supplies vinegar to foodservice markets. Its retail vinegars are US brand leaders with around 25% share. {{P&P }}
