Increasing numbers of British soft fruit growers are converting to the production of blueberries because of their reputation as a ‘super food’.
KG Fruits has invested more than £250,000 in helping its members to develop a range of relevant skills, including growing under glass, on sites throughout England and Scotland.
The British blueberry season traditionally spans two months, beginning this week.
KG Fruits hopes to extend the season from May to September. “There has already been a very positive response from our supermarket customers,” said KG Fruits chairman Angus Davison.
