Morrisons has promoted marketing director Richard Lancaster to the new role of corporate marketing and operations director.

The retailer has also hired former Tesco and Asda executive James Condon as marketing director.

Former Netto MD Lancaster will now have additional responsibility for merchandising, space and format. As well as overseeing all marketing communications, he will be responsible for price and promotion across all formats as well as the look and feel from a customer experience perspective.

Condon will report to Lancaster and takes responsibility for advertising, in-store marketing, print services and local marketing.

“The continued roll-out of our convenience trial and execution of the ‘Store of the Future’ concept will be major projects in 2012,” said group commercial director Richard Hodgson.

“These changes are two of many that we are making across our business to ensure we have the right talent in the right places to deliver our ambitious plans.”
