Morrisons is the latest supermarket to get into the summer festival scene with the launch of MFEST.

The two-day music and food festival will be held in the grounds of Harewood House in Leeds on 7 and 8 July and will play host to veteran acts including Texas, The Human League, Inspiral Carpets and Bob Geldof. Current chart-toppers on the bill include Scouting For Girls.

The retailer is hoping to attract 15,000 revellers on each day, helping to raise £500,000 for Save the Children. Food and drink will be a key part of MFEST, with live demonstrations from chefs such as Aldo Zilli, Nigel Haworth, Atul Kochhar, Pierre Koffmann and Bryn Williams featuring alongside the many food stalls.

Celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin will also be hosting events at the Morrisons Let’s Grow Patch.

“MFEST will be a unique addition to the festival market, with not only a glittering array of entertainment for all ages but a brand new reinterpretation of festival food: from fantastic gourmet meals, to on-the-go treats,” said Morrisons group commercial director Richard Hodgson.

Last month Sainsbury’s announced that it will host a Jubilee Family Festival in London’s Hyde Park in June.
