Jim Moseley, managing director of General Mills UK, Ireland and the Nordic markets, has been elected president of the Food and Drink Federation.

Moseley will take up the presidency on 1 January, replacing Ross Warburton who has held the position since January 2009.

"Ross has done a great job in ensuring that our sector's voice has been heard during a very challenging period of major political change and great economic uncertainty," said Moseley.

"I want to build on his achievements in raising the profile of our important sector and working in partnership with government to ensure that our industry underpins the UK's economic recovery."

Moseley has been managing director of General Mills UK since 1999. His career in food and drink manufacturing spans more than 30 years, working across categories including meat, ice cream, canned vegetables, home baking and sports drinks.

He has been vice president of the FDF for four years and has also chaired the FDF's Food Safety and Scientific Steering Group and acted as the UK representative on the board of the European Food and Drink Federation CIAA.

"I am delighted to be handing the baton on to Jim," said Warburton. "He is already playing an important part in FDF's success and I know that under his leadership FDF will continue to flourish."
