Licensed toy sales have been dented by the lack of blockbuster movies this summer.

Analysts NPD Group said licensed product accounted for 26.4% of toy sales [year-to-date 12 October 2013] - down from 28.2% year on year.

Yet growth had been seen in action figures and pre-school licences, said NPD analyst Frédérique Tutt, with film-related toy sales remaining key and almost £10m of sales for Iron Man, Monsters University and Planes.
