A new strain of the superbug MRSA has been found in fresh meat in Europe.

The bug, which has already infected one in five of all pork products in Holland, has been found in Denmark, Belgium, Holland and Germany, according to the Soil Association.

“This new type of MRSA is spreading like wildfire across Europe and we know it is transferring from farm animals to humans with serious health impacts,” said Soil Association policy adviser Richard Young.

Meanwhile, The Food Standards Agency has launched an investigation into claims that chicken served in restaurants, hospitals and schools is being secretly pumped with water and proteins to increase its size and weight.
