The first tuna fishery to achieve Marine Stewardship Council accreditation is being held up as an example to British tuna suppliers.

MSC and WWF said the American Albacore Fishing Association had shown that migratory species could be fished sustainably. The tuna industry has been lambasted recently for over-exploiting stocks. The AAFA uses pole-and-line and troll-and-line techniques in the Pacific, with 21 boats catching 4,000 tonnes per year with almost no by-catch.
