Exclusive Mary Carmichael A Galaxy Muffin will join other star names in McVitie's Cake Company portfolio on May 21, as part of a reorganisation of the company's Eat now' cake range. It joins the Jaffa Cakes muffin and the M&M's brownie at the indulgence end of the range which also includes two lower fat Go Ahead! muffins, two McVitie's muffins and two cake bars. Brand manager Dominic South said the company estimated a £100m opportunity for out-of-home cake consumption. Like the confectionery, the chocolate-topped muffin targets women aged 18 to 44. (rsp: 79p). Mars is backing the Galaxy brand with a £6m marketing support package this year. McVitie's has also revamped its flapjacks range under the Homebake brand. Available from June 18, the Original and Red Berry variants replace Syrup and Raspin' Jacks, and Chocolate and Mixed Fruit variants are new. Two Go Ahead! flapjacks will follow in the summer.
