Weather warming for Waitrose Waitrose said its sales for the first 17 weeks are up 6.36% on the same period last year. The figures were boosted by a short spell of warmer weather which led to good sales of soft drinks and fruits, barbecue lines and salads. MD David Felwick said: "After the earlier dull spell, our distribution department and contractors found themselves battling hard to cope with the surge in demand for warm weather lines." Felwick also revealed 11 more branches have started trading on a Sunday  three of them on a seasonal basis. And he said Waitrose has been making "pioneering" use of external contractors to speed up store revamps. "This could signal a major change in the way we operate," he said. {{NEWS }}
