Budgens and Londis are launching a new beer festival in an attempt to appeal to a new range of customers during the economic slump.

The festival, which runs for three weeks starting on 25 August, will host a variety of deals on standard beer and premium ales.

The retailers will be offering strong promotions during the festival "to bring in new customers while satisfying existing ones" said Budgens and Londis trading director Willie Hamilton.

"It also gives a great platform to promote the quality of the range and strength of our value offer to Budgens and Londis customers."

The festival follows the success of the Budgens cider festival earlier this year.
