Nestlé comes out the winner in the brand chart this week after moving up two places to claim the top spot, forcing Walkers down to second place. However, the competition between the two brands remains close, with just two percentage points between them.
The success of Nestlé is based somewhat on the wide variety of promotions available in categories from cereals through to confectionery and frozen.
McVitie’s and Heinz are the only other brands to move up the chart this week, with McVitie’s climbing two places and Heinz three. Heinz focuses mainly on multibuy and extra-fill offers featured on gondola ends and side stacks, while McVitie’s offers a wider range including buy-one-get-one-free offers and price promotions.
There are two new entries this week with Birds Eye and Fanta creeping in at the bottom of the chart. Birds Eye returns to the chart after an absence of two weeks, while Fanta appears for the first time since the end of February. Fanta almost exclusively uses buy-one-get-one-free offers.
