The first two wines in a new range are being launched in Tesco and will be rolled out to other multiples during the year. Under the Pendulum brand, Western Wines is introducing an Australian Chardonnay and an Italian Zinfandel. They may be from opposite sides of the world, but the emphasis is less on where the wines come from and more on quality and price. "These are 21st century wines for younger people who have fewer predetermined ideas on what a bottle of wine should look like," said brand manager Martin Pinner. "We have worked with our customers to come up with new packaging ideas and I think you will see more propositions like this as producers try and make their labels stand out on the shelf.
