The new Branded Excellence Awards scheme is launched this week by The Grocer. With 19 categories, from Best Soup to Best Bagged Snacks, the awards will recognise the best brands in UK grocery.

The 'Brandies', sponsored by SHS, are a sister event to The Grocer's Own-Label Awards and share the same authoritative two-step judging process. The products are subjected to consumer testing. A shortlist is then created with finalists judged by an expert panel.

Adam Leyland, editor of The Grocer, said: "The winners get an obvious marketing tool, and are free to use this logo at no extra cost to promote their achievement. But win or lose, every entrant gets feedback on what their customers think."
