The Portman Group has launched a section on its website to give drinks producers best practice advice.

The section, which covers the use of website verification pages, unit labelling and the promotion of Drinkaware, goes live as the watchdog's new guidelines come into force.

The fourth edition of the watchdog's Code Of Practice means that drinks producers will no longer be able to put alcohol branding on children's replica sports shirts or run promotions which urge consumers to drink rapidly or down their drinks in one.

"Producers should not promote any harmful drinking style," said Portman Group chief executive David Poley.
