Bax Botanics has added a range of non-alcoholic RTDs.

The drinks brand has unveiled two canned drinks – Smooth Sea Buckthorn & Tonic and Zingy Lemon Verbena & Tonic – billed as being “perfect for picnics and on-the-go enjoyment”.

The former is said to be “mellow and fruity” and best paired with dishes such as barbecued pineapple, salty snacks and street food, while the latter “stimulates the senses and gets the tastebuds going”, said the brand, and could be paired with dishes such as salads, fish and seafood.

Both flavours contain 48 calories per 250ml can (rsp: £2.40). They comprised “organic and ethically grown botanicals” as well as herbs, berries and roots “to create complex flavours that make them the perfect substitute for boozy, sugary RTDs this summer”, said Bax Botanics.

“More and more people are seeking out the highest quality and the most unique flavours in their RTDs,” said the brand’s founder Rose Bax.

The launch comes as take-home sales of low and non-alcoholic drinks are surging: the total low & no category grew by almost a fifth (19.8%) to £262.1m over the year to 20 February 2022 – and that’s without factoring in on-trade sales [Kantar].
