Double Caramel Crème was ‘inspired by one of France’s most beloved and iconic desserts’

Gü has added a trio of new potted desserts.

They are: Double Caramel Crème, Tiramisu and Cherry Panna Cotta (rsp: £3.50/two desserts).

The Double Caramel Crème was “inspired by one of France’s most beloved and iconic desserts”, said the brand, while the Tiramisu and Panna Cotta both gave a “fresh, modern twist on a classic that will make any Italian night in even better”.

Tiramisu comprises a dark chocolate coffee crème made with arabica and robusta coffee on top of a biscuit base with a layer of mascarpone and Sicilian Marsala wine.

The Panna Cotta, meanwhile, comprised “a gently cooked, authentic panna cotta infused with vanilla and topped with mascarpone” with a cherry compote, said Gü.

“We believe now is the right time to firmly move the brand into the broader segment of ‘modern indulgence’ beyond chilled desserts,” said Gü chief marketing officer Anthony Wells.

With shoppers “increasingly looking to make their nights in more special”, the new launches would “attract more shoppers to the category and more usage into new indulgence occasions on the sofa”, he added.

The launch comes on the back of a solid 2021 for Gü. Over the 52 weeks to 11 September 2021, sales of its potted desserts grew by a cool 11.7% (£7m) to £66.5m [NielsenIQ].
