Johnnie Walker is to launch two Blenders’ Batch whiskys in the UK next month.
Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Rum Cask Finish (40.8% abv) and Johnnie Walker Blenders’ Batch Espresso Roast (43.2% abv) will hit specialist retailers from October, accompanying their wider launch in to the on-trade (rsp: £30/50cl).
The blended whiskys had been “developed and refined over the last 10 years alongside global bartenders and whisky influences”, said the brand.
Espresso Roast had “notes of rich coffee and dark chocolate”, while Rum Cask Finish signified “10 years of experiments carefully conditioning Scotch in casks that previously held rum” and had “sweet hints of Caribbean rum with a distinctly smooth texture”.
The brand has also this month launched a limited-edition whisky in partnership with the upcoming Blade Runner sequel Blade Runner 2049. Only 2,000 bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label: The Director’s Cut, were made (£80/70cl).
Johnnie Walker grew its value sales by £576k (3.4%) to £17.4m this year, in spite of an overall decline for blended Scotch sales, which fell £10m (1.4%) to £773m [IRI 52 w/e 22 July 2017].
