Kerry Foods is launching a Sharwood’s-branded takeaway-style meal range backed by a deal offering two mains and a side dish for £4.
The Takeaway range – produced under licence from Premier Foods and rolling out next month - is designed to tap the £4.2bn takeaway market [Mintel February 2015], said Kerry. It comprises 10 mains, such as Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Chow Mein (all rsp: £1.79) and two side dishes, Pilau Rice and Egg Fried Rice (both rsp: £1.09).
Supported by the £4 meal deal, Kerry said the range was designed for encourage groups to buy into the frozen ready meal market, stating 37% of frozen ready meals were sold to one-person households [Kantar Worldpanel 52 w/e 19 July 2015].
“The average Brit eats 19 takeaways per year, and the new Sharwood’s range is designed to encourage new shoppers into the frozen ready meal aisle by offering them a range from a brand they can trust,” said Kerry Foods frozen ready meals brand manager Charlotte Bourne. “The Sharwood’s Takeaway range is the perfect Saturday night ‘eat-in’ meal solution.”
The new products will sit alongside Kerry’s existing Sharwood’s complete meal range.
