Mornflake has expanded its instant Top Porridge menu with a no-added-sugar variant - with no top.
The latest addition, rolling out this week, consists of a simple base that contains no added sugar (rsp: £1/62g compared with £1.20 for the top versions). It joins Mornflake’s Top Porridge duo on shelf, launched last year and comprising separate servings of either Lyle’s Golden Syrup or Nutella within the lid of the pot.
The new ‘no top’ no-added-sugar option had been developed to offer consumers the option to enjoy it on its own or with individual toppings, said marketing director Richard Jones, adding the newcomer would meet increasing demand for more natural no-added-sugar options in the cereal category.
“As the sugar debate continues, the market is responding with NPD that highlights diet, portion control and compromises taste via artificial ingredients, but we believe offering consumers natural choice and freedom in this segment presents major opportunities,” he said.
