An excellent Christmas and a cracking start to the new year appears to be the order of the day in the bacon markets this week.
Both Danish and Dutch traders are reporting good demand following a successful festive season.
On the Danish side, prices have come down following Christmas, as was expected, and trade was reported as being very brisk.
Dutch traders said the market had got off to a flying start in the new year with strong demand, both in retail and foodservice, marginally firming prices. One reported that demand was so upbeat that it could prove hard to meet all committments.
