Soft drinks manufacturer Nichols has reported a 14.9% increase in half-year pre-tax profit to £2.77m on sales up 6.1% at £27.8m.

Despite the recent poor weather, its core brands, which include Vimto and Panda, had continued to grow, the company said.

It added that discussions regarding a possible offer for the company, first revealed in March this year, were continuing.

“Although we expect market volatility to continue throughout the second-half, we still believe our core brands will continue to perform well in a difficult UK market,” said chairman John Nichols.
