Nisa retailer Filco supermarkets has reported a small loss after a major refurbishment.
The chain recorded a pre-tax loss of £216,805 in the year to 31 March against a profit of £463,615 the previous year, according to accounts filed at Companies House. Sales dipped 0.6% to £22.2m.
“Maintaining turnover and profitability during the trading year proved challenging,” said Filco MD Ian Hunt. “Our largest store was severely disrupted by a major refurbishment and sales generally remained flat with lower volumes.”
“Our refurbishment and two store openings will [see] an increase in turnover and footfall in our business premises,” Hunt added.
