Spontex is hoping to revive the soap pad and dishmop markets with two new lines.

The brand is moving into the two categories for the first time and is aiming to turn around overall value sales, which have fallen 11% in the case of soap pads, while dishmop sales are down 7.9% [IRI 52 w/e 9 August 2014].

Both categories had declined due to “a dearth of competition,” said Spontex. The launches are 10-packs of soap pads (rsp. £1.50), individual dishmops (rsp: £2), and dishmop refills (rsp: £1.60/three).

The mops go into Morrisons, Homebase and Ocado from November. The soap pads will be available in Tesco from November.
