Could this lovechild of a skateboard and a tank become the next big thing in outdoor toys?
American supplier Rockboard has fitted four caterpillar treads to a board to create the Descender, which is designed to be surfed downhill.
“The heavy rollers on tough-as-nails treads grip just about any downhill surface including pavement, grass, wooded paths and snowy hills,” said the company. “No need to wait for a sunny day or a smooth sidewalk.”
The Descender is available from June in the US (rsp: $120). It can carry up to 200lb so even parents will be able to get in on the action.
Rockboard - which also produces a scooter powered by the rider rocking up and down on the footboard - is currently working with a distributor to make the Descender available in the UK by the autumn.
