The traditional noodle market is currently stable versus a year ago, neither in growth nor decline, and is worth £18.2m in value, according to ACNielsen (MAT to July 13 2002).
Key market players are Sharwood's with 63% value share, Amoy with 23% and Blue Dragon with 7%.
Brand leader Sharwood's has seen its sales decline by 5.3% in the past year while number two brand Amoy has experienced strong growth with year-on-year sales up 11.7%.
Blue Dragon, with the smaller value share, has achieved sales growth up by 55.8%.
Consumer panel data for the traditional noodle market shows penetration down 1% to 25%.
The average person buys noodles 2.6 times a year.
