The Napa Valley Vintners Association hopes suppliers will put the "100% Napa Valley" logo on their labels to denote that every step of production has taken place in the area.
Coors Brewers has added a section on category management to its website to help guide retailers. The area features a vitual store with suggestions on sections which need increased focus to offer "best service in beer and drinks retailing".
"This part of the website is devoted to helping our customers drive more volume and extra profits," said category projects manager for the off-trade, Graham Baughan.
Interbrew has blamed its sale of Carling Brewers last year for a decline in its full-year sales and profit. Reporting on its performance in 2002, the brewer was consoled by sales of its flagship brand Stella Artois which it said increased by 19% in the off-trade. The brand also rose by 12.7% in volume terms during the year, Interbrew said.
Overall, the group's pre-tax profit dipped by 14.2% to 1665m (£450m) on sales which dropped 5.5% to 16.9bn (£4.6bn) on the previous year.
