Distributor Ehrmanns Wines has introduced a Spanish wine made from old vines to the UK market, along with its Bulgarian BlueRidge XR range.

The Castillo La Paz Temperanillo 2004 is produced in the area of Corral de Almaguer in the north of La Mancha region. The climate is cold and dry in the winter and hot and dry in the summer, which means there is little need for chemical treatments of the vineyards, according to the producer. The wine has just been listed in Sainsbury's, priced at £4.99.

The importer is launching BlueRidge XR into Tesco, with an rsp of £4.99 each. The range, which consists of a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Merlot, is produced in Bulgaria and then aged in barrels for eight to nine months.

The BlueRidge range also adds to Ehrmanns' growing portfolio of wines in innovative packaging.

The wines come in 750ml glass bottles with a flat sloping front panel above the main label.
