A new campaign is aiming to reinvent onions as an ­essential, healthy food for the modern consumer.

The British Onion Producers' Association (BOPA) has appointed London PR agency Sputnik Communications to spice up their image and expand the market for British onions.

The campaign, which will be launched in September, will include a brand redesign, an updated website and logo, and health messages in national magazines and newspapers along with TV and radio.

Last year Sputnik won the Refresh Awards 2006 Marketing Campaign of the Year for its British Summer Fruits PR campaign.
