Sir; It is with concern that the FPB notes that many independents are unaware that an investigation is being carried out by the Competition Commission into the groceries market (Independent view, The Grocer, 16 ­September, p45).

We are aware of the many practices the supermarket giants employ that could be seen to prevent, restrict or distort competition in grocery. We have been campaigning to increase awareness for many years. We would, therefore, encourage companies with comments, or evidence or examples of practices that have prevented, restricted or distorted fair competition, to submit details to the CC.

This can be done directly through the CC's website (www.competition-commission.org.uk). Alternatively, if companies feel they need assistance they should feel free to contact the FPB, which will be able to help them.
